On Training Days we will hold scheduled hours of 10 AM-4PM. Sailors are expected to have jibs up and spinnakers rigged by our 10AM start time. We will meet to discuss daily goals and objectives prior to launching and immediately upon returning to shore. Adjusted scheduling for significant weather or video debriefing may occur.

On Regatta Days sailors are expected to be rigged and ready prior to a squad meeting, scheduled 30 minutes prior to daily Harbor Start. The Harbor Start for most venues will be 1 hour prior to the first Warning Signal of the day. After sailing, a debrief will be conducted immediately once all boats are to shore. To continue and support the skiff culture of fleet development-a combined fleet debrief may be organized for all interested sailors and coaches to participate in to learn from one another.

What you can expect from 2NINER

LOW RATIO- This summer will be next level and to get the most out of it we want to maximize feedback to you. Ratios at peak regattas (US Youth Champs & 29er Worlds) will be 4 boats to 1 coach; each boat will be paired with a warm up and sparring partner to test and tune with. A low ratio means more direct feedback to help improve sailor progression and planning for the next race.

START ON TIME END ON TIME- Establishing a good routine sets the mind at ease and allows for the athlete to perform on regatta day. We want things to run smoothly and focus on what’s important – skill development and regatta preparation.

ENGAGEMENT- Let’s build accountability. We commit to provide feedback about equipment preparation and guidance, boat tuning, daily weather forecasting, specific strategic game plan, technical feedback, and individualized goal setting.

What we expect from YOU

SET GOALS -We’ve targeted key dates and locations to develop a plan so you have the best preparation plan for Summer 2017. Important regattas include US Youth Champs (Texas) and 29er Worlds (Long Beach). What are your goals for the summer?

REST – You’ll notice there are both on and off times scheduled. Planning too much travel, training, and racing days will wear you down. Your goal should be to peak with maximum energy, fitness, and experience at the World Championships in Long Beach. Don’t over do it.

BE READY – Control your attention. We have many training, travel, and racing days ahead. Stay on top of your equipment’s condition so you’re always prepared. Also, be mindful of yourself. You’re going to sail skiffs all summer: Stay stoked!
