Learning to Skiff

An incredible group of talented youth sailors joined our LTS clinics this summer in Miami. These clinics are designed to give novice sailors in the 29er the opportunity to sail with fleet veterans and learn best practices while actively sailing. This is guided-experiential learning and also helps bond our learn to skiffies with our veteran squad. These relationships help build confidence and expand the learning environment. If you missed out on an LTS clinic this summer, and you’re interested in checking out the 29er to see if it’s a good fit for you, be sure to sign up for Pre-Season training which began August 21, link here.

You’ve taken a Learn to Skiff Camp and ready to take the next step. We are thrilled you enjoyed sailing the 29er this summer and want to continue, 2NINER has a robust calendar of activity that you can look forward to. If you’re new to double handed sailing, here’s our playbook on what you need to know to thrive in this environment:

You don’t need to buy a boat (unless you want to) we have charters available for the season (August-December). 2NINER staff will survey the condition of the boat with you at the beginning and end of the season. In the meantime, you take the keys and own it. Any maintenance and upkeep is on the sailors. The charter fee covers Sailing Center boat storage monthly fees, so you don’t need to worry about that. We do recommend you buy some sails to use.

Event Outlook, 4 of the 5 events this fall are in Miami. And the 1 event in North Carolina this October we will be trailering our boats up. 2NINER will be coordinating two team trailers so that you don’t have to worry about logistics. Just load and unload your boat. Or we’ll do it for a service fee.

Who do I partner with? It’s a great question and the best partnerships happen organically and are created by two athletes natural magnetism toward each other. If you need help finding a partner, we’ll help! Our golden rules when it comes to successful partnerships are: 1) goal orientation, both sailors are aligned and heading in same direction; 2) mutual respect for one another; 3) developing excellent communication practices.
