Warm Water Coach's Clinic/Regatta

IMG_0462The first of its kind. But not the last, where our 29er squads from across North America came together for training and racing. With the use of technology and the quality coaching we continue to push the bar higher. Three incredible days of sailing put the athletes to the test. To be competitive, skiff sailors need to be competent and competitive in all conditions. Saturday brought breeze well into lower 20s, so we hid beneath the protected shoreline of Virginia Key. Whereas Sunday and Monday, we ventured to the open ocean for light and lumpy racing off of Miami Beach.

NEXT STEP FOR TEAM USA
This past weekend represents the first of several joint training sessions in preparation for the 2020 Open Worlds in Weymouth.
More about that here. Team USA is working on a gameplan for our teams and training partners attending this summer.
THEMES
The focus of this weekend was to build and develop our athletes' "Racing IQ." While the racing served as the structure to learn and test skills, it was not the focus. Prizes of cheese, veggie, and pepperoni pizza were enjoyed by all athletes Sunday after racing.
Here's a look at the coach's outline from the Clinic.
